Will Debut At GIIAS 2024, Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Book This Record At Pikes Peak Arena

Hyundai recently set a record at the annual motorsport event Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) with two models, namely Ioniq 5 N Time Attack (TA) and Ioniq 5 N.

In the event, the South Korean manufacturer sent three cars, consisting of two Ioniq 5 N TA units and one Ioniq 5 N unit, to conquer obstacles on the Pikes Peak hill which has a length of 20 km with an altitude of 4,700 feet and 156 challenging bends with uncertain conditions.

Launching from the manufacturer's official website on Wednesday, June 26, Hyundai successfully posted a record in the Electric Modified and Production SUV/Crossover categories. This proves the quality of high-performance products from the Hyundai N division.

In the future, we plan to continue to take advantage of interesting motor sports activities such as Pikes Peak to showcase superior performance of our mass-produced vehicles and continue to develop technologies that not only meet customer needs but also exceed their expectations, said Vice President and Head of N Brand and Motorsport, Till Wartenberg.

The first Ioniq 5 N TA was driven by a Hyundai racer on the WRC scene, Dani Sordo, who recorded the fastest time of 9 minutes 30.8 seconds and won an exhibition class. The second car was driven by Randy Pobst who finished the race with a time of 9 minutes 55.5 seconds.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N TA is based on the production version of Ioniq 5 N with several modifications, starting from the aerodynamic side to increasing the performance of electric motors. In addition, this crossover is also equipped with other high performance tunings such as the latest shock-absorber and brakes with motorsport specifications. The rest, TA specifications retain most features from the regular version of Ioniq 5 N.

Meanwhile, Ioniq 5 N's car was driven by Ron Zaras with a time of 10 minutes 49.2 seconds, showing the crossover's ability in the Hill Climbing arena without any modifications.

This is not the first time Hyundai has participated in the Pikes Peak event. The manufacturer first participated in the event in 1992 with a Hyundai Scoupe driven by Rod Millen, recording a time of 13 minutes 21.1 seconds. Hyundai also participated in PPIHC in 2012 with a Hyundai Genesis Coupe driven by Rhys Millen, the son of Rod Millen, with a time of 9 minutes 46.1 seconds.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N will make its debut in Indonesia through the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) which will take place on 18-28 July. Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) has presented the latest products to be presented at the exhibition, including Ioniq 5 N, through a slide show featuring a vehicle silhouette from the Hyundai N brand.

"Of course there will be products that we introduce at GIIAS 2024 and we will inform you immediately. Not only products that will be sold, but also displays that we will present," said PT HMID Head of Relations, calm Simanjuntak, some time ago in Jakarta.
