Legal Counsel Optimistic Wins Pretrial Lawsuit: Suspect Status Pegi Setiawan Vina Killer Dies
The legal team of Pegi Setiawan is optimistic that the panel of judges at the Bandung District Court will grant the pretrial lawsuit of his client, Pegi Setiawan, who is the main suspect in the murder cases of Vina and Eky Cirebon.
Pegi Setiawan's legal team, Sugianti Iriani, said that his party had prepared 22 attorneys to assist in the process of the pretrial trial.
"We are optimistic, 99 percent optimistic. Of course we have prepared everything, both our evidence and our mentality," said Sugianti, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 23.
Sugianti hopes that the judge appointed by the Bandung District Court will have professional integrity and be free from interference from other parties that could harm his client.
"Today we want our hope, today the pretrial will run smoothly and the judge is also objective and Pegi can be released," he said.
He considered that the determination of the suspect to Pegi Setiawan was invalid because the evidence owned by the West Java Regional Police was very weak. Yanti said there was no evidence to point to Pegi Setiawan.
"Yes, there is no CCTV, there are no fingerprints, the post-mortem does not lead to Pegi. There are no significants either," he said.
Meanwhile, another attorney Muchtar Effendy admitted that he would return all the accusations made by the West Java Police to his client. He emphasized that his client was not involved in the 2016 murder of Vina and Eky.
