Alexander Marwata About Many Regional Heads Arrested: How Not, If Political Costs Are Expensive

Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata said that there were still many regional heads who were caught because of the high political costs. So, regional head candidates in the future must be careful.

"Why are so many regional heads caught, that's the question. If political costs are very expensive, how come it's not like that (arrested, ed)," said Alexander, quoted on Sunday, June 23.

"And we will convey caution that in November 2024 there will be simultaneous regional elections," he continued.

Alexander said the system that makes political costs expensive must be suppressed. People should not be tempted by candidates by distributing money.

He said, if there are still those who are tempted by the politics of the elected candidate's money, they are not the ones who have integrity. "If the system is still like now, yes, I'm sorry I said that, right," he said.

Alexander agrees that the concept of democracy can indeed make people free to choose. However, candidates who have integrity usually lose to money.

"There is no guarantee for our democratically elected leadership, we can have leaders with integrity and have managerial abilities and so on. There is no guarantee," he said.

"In fact, you have a lot of money, love, win it," concluded Alexander.
