Realizing Sustainable Development, Government Supports The Utilization Of Regsosek Data

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto revealed that the Socio-Economic Registration (Regsosek) is one of the important steps in creating a comprehensive database regarding the social and economic conditions of all Indonesians.

Airlangga said, Regsosek data can also be used for the implementation of evidence-based planning and budgeting.

Through Regsosek data, Airlangga said that he would get a clear and accurate picture of the level of welfare, household conditions, and various other aspects of people's lives can be seen.

Therefore, he continued, Regsosek data became very crucial in planning development that was more targeted and sustainable.

"This data can also be a tool to accelerate the elimination of extreme poverty, poverty all over the region, and create people towards the middle class with relatively higher income," he said in his statement, quoted Friday, June 21.

In the last 15 years, Indonesia has made good progress in reducing poverty levels.

Reporting from BPS data, the 2023 March National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) shows that 9.36 percent of the population who fall into the poor category, while 1.12 percent in the extreme poor category.

The data from the World Bank also shows that during this period Indonesia also experienced middle class growth from 7 percent to 20 percent of the total population.

Airlangga explained that the increase in quantity and quality of the middle class also helped accelerate Indonesia's economic growth and expand the equitable distribution of people's welfare.

According to him, there are still quite a lot of challenges faced by Indonesia to strengthen and expand the middle class.

One of the effective ways to overcome these challenges is through integration and convergence of economic empowerment programs by utilizing Regsosek data.

In addition, Airlangga also reminded that economic empowerment to create a middle class community cannot be done separately.

This will require coordination and also require cross-sectoral convergence, especially in the implementation of economic empowerment programs.

"Furthermore, let us work hard together and work sincerely to realize things that can encourage the improvement of the middle class. With a strong middle class, we have a solid foundation to build a more advanced nation and are able to achieve the recommended targets in the Medium-Term Development Act, which of course we hope to be the way to Indonesia Emas in 2045," concluded Coordinating Minister Airlangga.
