Uninhabited Until Dijarah, Rusunawa Marunda Will Be Demolished
JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government plans to knock down the Rusunawa Marunda building which is no longer inhabited by residents. Later, Rusunawa Marunda was also the target of looting.
Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Housing and Settlement Area Office, Afan Adriansyah Idris, said that the residential condition located in Cilincing District, North Jakarta was no longer feasible.
The emptying of Rusunawa Marunda, which has been carried out since September 2023, also followed up on recommendations from the results of structural research from BRIN which stated that the condition was dangerous. Thus, the DKI Provincial Government decided to remove the assets of Rusunawa Marunda.
"Regarding the above, I can inform you that the building in question has its position vacated. Furthermore, the removal process will be carried out," Afan told reporters, Friday, June 21.
Now, residents of the relocated Rusunawa Marunda have settled in the Nagrak Flats. The occupants were also used by the looters. A number of building assets in Rusunawa Marunda have been looted many times since last year. The theft objects include doors, ceilings, windows, sinks, sinks, and frames. Rusunawa Marunda currently only remains in the skeleton and building debris.

Afan also denied the assumption that the DKI Provincial Government did not secure assets. However, Afan admitted that guarding the Marunda Rusunawa could not be carried out optimally.
"Given the area of the Marunda Flat complex and the limited number of employees, there are deficiencies," he explained.
Now, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has finally decided to report the looting of Rusunawa Marunda to the police. The Flats Management Unit (UPRS) II will coordinate with the police to trace the cases of looting that have occurred since 2023.
"I have ordered the flat manager to immediately report back and coordinate with the police," he said.
Previously, the manager of Rusunawa Marunda had taken action against the perpetrators of the looting. When carrying out the action, they are a janitor and security officer.
However, the manager of Rusunawa Marunda did not report the 7 PJLP employees to the police, but only fired the perpetrators.
"The manager of the Marunda flat as of December 2023 has dismissed 7 non-ASN employees," said Afan.
