Kim Jong Un-Putin 'Mesra', South Korea Considers Supplying Weapons To Ukraine

JAKARTA - South Korea said it would review the possibility of supplying weapons to Ukraine.

Yonhap news agency reported this information citing an official after North Korean leaders Kim Jong Un and Russia, Vladimir Putin signed an agreement promising a joint defense in the event of a war.

In an official statement issued on Thursday, June 20, Seoul also condemned a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement signed by North Korean and Russian leaders this week, saying the agreement violated UN sanctions.

The government clearly emphasizes that any cooperation that directly or indirectly helps North Korea increase its military force constitutes a violation of UN Security Council resolutions and is subject to monitoring and sanctions by the international community, the presidential office said in a statement, stressing such abuses would exacerbate Seoul's relations with Moscow.

North Korea and Russia revived the agreements made in the Cold War era when their leaders met in Pyongyang this week, and agreed to provide military assistance if they were attacked.
