BPS Reveals Textile Exports Drop 0.8 Percent Until May 2024

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the export value of textiles and textile products from Indonesia decreased in the January-May 2024 period. The decline was due to the number of textile factories being closed.

"However, cumulatively in the January-May 2024 period, textile commodities decreased from the export value of 0.80 percent when compared to the same period before," said Deputy for Statistics for BPS Production, M. Habibullah, Wednesday, June 19.

However, Habibullah said that there will be an increase in export value in May 2024 when compared to April 2024.

"The export value of textile commodities or HS codes from 50 to 63 tends to increase in May 2024 compared to April 2024," he said.

According to Habibullah, only one type of textile commodity has decreased, namely the HS 50 code or silk. "Of the double-digit HS 14, only the HS 50 code is silk that shows a decline," he explained.
