Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno: Eid 2024 Contributed Rp200 Trillion To The Indonesian Economy

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that Eid al-Adha 1445 Hijri contributed more than Rp200 trillion to the Indonesian economy.

This figure is obtained starting from upstream to downstream processes, such as the provision and procurement of sacrificial animals, the cutting process, to the manufacture of sugar or rendang. "This is only from the aspect of sacrifice, namely that out of a total of more than 1.5 million sacrificial animals, this can distribute a total of more than Rp. 200 trillion," Sandiaga said after distributing sacrificial meat from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to 420 people in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, June 19. Menparekraf said that the contribution only came from 5 percent of the compliance of Muslims to carry out sacrificial worship, so that if the projection of 200 million Indonesian Muslim communities performs sacrifices, the ongoing impact (multiplier effect) of Eid celebrations on the Indonesian economy is getting bigger. "If we further increase compliance from Muslims, the total is 200 million more, the economic impact will also be even higher. We must encourage this later together from the aspect of sharing it," he said.

Sandiaga together with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy made three cows and two goats that were distributed to 420 cleaners, technicians, security officers, and drivers within the ministry he led. Previously, he said the fulfillment of the realization of the tourism target of 4.5 percent of the total national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) or Rp. 202 trillion in 2024 would be carried out in stages starting from the first, second, to third quarters, which at the end of the year had a cumulative target of 14.3 million foreign tourist visits (tourists). Meanwhile, Kemenparekraf noted that in the previous year, the realization of Indonesia's tourism foreign exchange value towards GDP was around Rp. 161 trillion. Meanwhile, the target for foreign tourists visits in 2023 was 8.5 million accompanied by local tourist visits of 1.4 billion trips.
