Minister Of Transportation Asks Pelindo To Accelerate Handling Of Rob Floods At Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi opened his voice regarding the issue of tidal flooding that continues to occur at Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang, Central Java.

Budi asked the Pelindo ranks to accelerate the handling of tidal flooding at Tanjung Emas Port.

"Construction engineering must be done more precisely. Then I ask it to be accelerated. Because, if it's not fast, things in Central Java don't all go to Tanjung Emas Port, some will go to Jakarta or Surabaya. This makes logistics costs higher," he said in an official statement, Sunday, June 16.

Currently, continued Budi, the accumulation of robs at Tanjung Emas Port has reached 11 centimeters. The accumulation occurred because the tidal height that came reached 5 centimeters and the port land fell as much as 6 centimeters.

Furthermore, Budi said Pelindo also needed to find technology that could handle the problem permanently, as has been implemented in the ports of Jakarta and Surabaya. Because, sea water increases will continue to occur.

"If it is made with a better structure, then there will be rob, but the port decline will not happen. Rob is not only at Tanjung Emas Port, but also throughout Java Beach," he said.

For your information, Pelindo itself has budgeted a cost of IDR 1.2 trillion to carry out construction engineering as handling the problem. The work has been carried out since last year and is targeted for completion in 2028.
