37 Doctors Prepared To Monitor The Health Of Sacrificial Animals In The Thousand Islands

JAKARTA - The Thousand Islands Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Service (KPKP Sub-Department) involved 37 doctors and animal health workers to monitor the health of sacrificial animals ahead of Eid al-Adha.

"Officers that we involve come from the local KPKP Sub-Department, the DKI Jakarta KPKP Service, and also from the Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI)," said Head of the Thousand Islands KPKP Sub-Department Nurliati in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday, June 15.

He said the health workers carried out inspections of sacrificial animals starting from ports in Jakarta and Tangerang which were going to the Thousand Islands and in six urban villages in the Thousand Islands area.

"There will be two stages of examination that will be carried out by officers, namely antemortem and postmortem examinations of all sacrificial animals," he added.

He explained that the antemortem examination was a health check for cut animals before being slaughtered, which was carried out by the authorities. Meanwhile, post mortem examinations are Jeroan and karkas health checks after being slaughtered by the competent authorities.

The examination, he continued, was carried out immediately after the completion of the slaughter, and an examination was carried out on the head, carkas or jeroan.

"We have deployed health workers in various ports to check the condition of the sacrificial animal. We also examined sacrificial animals distributed to the Thousand Islands Regency by checking their teeth structure, and ensuring the age of the sacrificial animal is in accordance with the predetermined Shari'a," he said.

His party will make sure all sacrificial animals sent are healthy and have no disease disorders.

"During the slaughter of animals, we together with the health team will also provide assistance in slaughtering sacrificial animals there, so as to avoid heart worms and others," he said.

Previously, the Regent of the Thousand Islands, Junaedi, distributed 21 cows and 11 goats distributed to 11 populated islands in the local area for Eid al-Adha 1445 Hijri.

"All of these cows were sent to populated islands in the Thousand Islands from Muara Angke Port, Penjaringan, Jakarta," he said in Jakarta, Friday.

He said three cows were sent to Pramuka Island, one cow for Untung Java Island, two cows were sent to Panggang Island, Tidung Island, Pari Island, Harapan Island, Kelapa Island, Kelapa Dua Island, Lancang Island, Payung Island, and Sebira Island.

In addition, he continued, there were also four goats for Untung Java Island, two goats for Tidung Island, three goats for Kelapa Island, and on Pari Island and Kelapa Island, one goat each," he said.

He explained that the dozens of sacrificial animals were aid from various parties, including BAZNAS BAZIS DKI Jakarta, Bank DKI, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) PHE OSES, community organizations, the government, and other private parties.

"Once again, I would like to thank all parties who have been willing to care and donate sacrificial animals in the Thousand Islands. We distribute this sacrificial animal evenly so that all islanders can feel the meat of the sacrifice," he said.
