Defeat Pai Yu Po, Ester Qualify For The 2024 Australian Open Final
JAKARTA - Indonesian women's singles Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo won over Taiwanese third seed Pai Yu Po in the semifinals in two straight games, 21-15, 21-16, on Saturday, June 15.
The victory led Ester to the final round of the BWF Super 500 Australian Open 2024 tournament which was held at the Quaycentre, Sydney, Australia.
Regarding the course of the match, Ester was able to hold the dominance and rhythm of the game well in the first game. Ester, who came down as the seventh seed in this tournament, did not allow the opponent to turn around to hold the advantage and tempo of the game.
Quoted from ANTARA, Ester's varied attacks also proved effective in producing numbers, as well as making Taiwanese women's singles difficult when returning the powerful balls given to her.
Continuing to the second game, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo's younger brother again defended his strategy like in the first game.
However, this time Pai was able to anticipate the pattern of Ester's game several times. Having fallen far behind, the opponent was able to equalize 7-7, 8-8, 10-10, and 11-11.
After halftime, Ester was not careless and did not relax her focus on winning the second game smoothly and confidently.
