The Ministry Of PUPR Has Accelerate The Settlement Of SPAM Sepaku To Meet Drinking Water Needs At IKN

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has accelerated the completion of the Sepaku Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) for drinking water needs in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) with a target completion in July 2024.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the Sepaku Semoi Dam which was inaugurated by President Jokowi served to supply IKN Nusantara's raw water needs.

"The Sepaku Semoi Dam functions to provide raw water in the IKN area with a capacity of 2,000 liters/second and for Balikpapan of 500 liters/second," Basuki said in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, June 14.

In order to meet the raw water needs in the IKN Nusantara area, the Ministry of PUPR through the Directorate General of Water Resources has completed the construction of the Sepaku Semoi Dam with a capacity of 2,500 liters/second, and the Sepaku River Intake with a capacity of 3,000 liters/second.

Through the Directorate General of Human Settlements, the Ministry of PUPR is also completing the construction of the Sepaku Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) to fulfill drinking water needs at IKN. The SPAM relies on intake from the Sepaku river and is planned to serve all building parcels in the IKN Central Government Core Area (KIPP). The SPAM consists of a 300 liter water treatment installation per second, a drinking water transmission pipeline and a Main Distribution Network (JDU) and a Distributive Network (JDP).

"The pipe has been connected up to 16 km of reservoir. Later from IPA, the water will be pumped into the reservoir in the form of drinking water with a capacity of 2 x 6,000 cubic meters," said Minister Basuki.

Technically, raw water will be pumped by the units intake to the IPA. So that the processing process starts from the aeration unit to increase oxygen diluted in raw water. Furthermore, water will be flowed to coagulation units - floculation - sedimentation (KFS), filtration, Ozone and Granular Activated Carbon (GAC).

Produced water that has met the quality of drinking water (potable water) is then accommodated at Clearwell to be pumped into the Main Reservoir through a 16 km transmission pipeline network.

The stable water from the Main Resevoir is then flowed by gravity through the main distribution network (JDU) and a 22 km distribution network (JDP) to the service area in stages.

The construction of SPAM Sepaku consists of an IPA with a capacity of 300 liters/second with a physical progress of 85 percent. The installation will use the SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) instrument with the use of sensors, logic controllers and actuators as smart systems instruments to control and monitor quality conditions, quantity and continuity of drinking-worthy water that will be distributed. Meanwhile, for the piping network, with a length of 16 km, using a quality food grade pipe measuring 1000 mm in diameter, the progress is currently 86.7 percent.

The 2 x 300 l / second pump yesterday afternoon was already present at IKN, and will soon be installed and set at IPA, in the near future the PUPR Ministry will complete the civil construction work, in parallel also ensuring that the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) installation is functioning properly so that in early July 2024 we can carry out project commissioning for drinking-worthy water distribution to the Central Government Core (KIPP) area.

SPAM Sepaku phase I is targeted to serve 22 building Percil including the State Palace, Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg), Paspampres, Coordinating Ministry 1,2,3, and 4, Amphitheater, Gallery, Service Area, ASN Flats, Ministerial Tax Houses and other public facilities such as hotels and hospitals.
