Commission I Of The House Of Representatives Appreciates Defense Minister Prabowo's Call To Respect International Law At The Jordan Summit
JAKARTA - The chairman of Commission I of the DPR, Meutya Hafid, appreciated the attitude of Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto who invited all parties, especially big countries, to respect international law in the 'Call for Action' Summit forum: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza' in Jordan.
"This attitude shows Indonesia's firmness against various violations of international law committed by Israel, but big countries seem to ignore and continue to allow so that civilian casualties in Gaza continue to fall," Meutya Hafid told reporters in Jakarta, Friday, June 14.
The chairman of the Golkar Party DPP also emphasized the importance of respecting international law as the main foundation in creating global peace and stability.
"I hope that the call made by Prabowo Subianto can be responded positively by the international community and bring about concrete changes in efforts to resolve the conflict in Gaza," said Meutya.
"This initiative shows Indonesia's commitment to continue to support the Palestinian cause in a peaceful and dignified manner," he added.
Previously, the Indonesian Minister of Defense and President-elect Prabowo Subianto represented the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo present at a high-level conference "Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza" or Surreme for Action: Humanitarian Emergency Response to Gaza, in Amman, Jordan, Tuesday 11 June.

Defense Minister Prabowo at this summit underlined the four main points in Indonesia's efforts to help the Gaza people, including increasing contributions to UNRWA, sending medical teams and field hospitals to Gaza, ready to receive 1,000 patients from Gaza to Indonesia and repatriating them when they have recovered, as well as providing post-trauma and education care for Gazan children.
Prabowo also highlighted countries that consider themselves to be civilized modern countries, but violate international humanitarian law by targeting civilians and infrastructure.
For this reason, the Indonesian government urges respect for international humanitarian law rules.
