BPS: It Takes IDR 6 Trillion To Hold The 2026 Economic Census
JAKARTA - Plt. Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that her party needed total funds of up to IDR 6 trillion for the preparation and implementation stage of the 2026 Economic Census to complete further data processing.
"In 2026, the implementation of the economic census will be carried out. After that, there must be a follow-up (process) and data processing. Earlier, we received the information that up to 2028 it would take around Rp. 6 trillion in total," said Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, June 14.
He said that the program also made his party propose an additional budget of IDR 2.24 trillion for the 2025 Fiscal Year, apart from the indicative ceiling proposal of IDR 4.609 trillion, to Commission XI of the DPR RI.
According to him, because the 10-year Economic Census will be held in 2026, his party needs to make various preparations since 2025, considering that the method used in data collection is not sampling, but complete data collection of all business units nationally.
"The need for preparation for the 2026 Economic Census alone is almost IDR 1 trillion," said Amalia.
Regarding the length of time it takes, he said that the existence of technology and digitization did not necessarily reduce the duration of the census because paper-based surveys were still needed for certain respondents.
His party also implemented a hybrid survey using the Computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) method in the census process.
"CAPI method is what the surveyors use smartphones or other gadget devices to survey respondents who have been selected," he said.

In addition to preparations for the 2026 Economic Census, Amalia said that the high cost required by her party next year is also due to various specific surveys that have been scheduled to be carried out in 2025.
He conveyed that the various surveys included the Inter-Sensus Population Survey (SUPAS), Commuter Survey, Economy-Wide Survey (EWS), Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), Happiness Level Measurement Survey (SPTK), Structure of Horticulture Plant Business Costs (SOUH), and the Year Potential Horticulture Survey (SHOPI).
"This is roughly for the new BPS initiative program for 2025 which we never do every year. So this is really specific that we have to do in 2025," he added.
