Trump Wants The Remaining Bitcoin To Be Mined In The US

Republican US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he wanted all the rest of bitcoin to be mined in the United States. Trump sees Bitcoin as the last line of defense against the central bank's digital currency (CBDC).

"Bitcoin mining may be our last defensive line against CBDC. Joe Biden's hatred of Bitcoin only helps China, Russia, and the Communist Radical Left. We want all the rest of Bitcoin to be MIXED IN the US!!! This will help us become DOMINAN ENERGY," Trump said in a late-night post on the social media platform, Truth Social.

Trump's post likely indicated that he wanted to see more bitcoin mining done by US companies using local resources. Currently, mining hotspots are in China, Central Asian countries, El Salvador, and several European countries such as Germany.

On Tuesday, Trump, the first US presidential candidate to receive crypto donations, met with executives from bitcoin mining company CleanSpark Inc. and Riot Platforms registered with Nasdaq. The former US President reportedly told attendees at the Mar-a-Lago event that miners helped stabilize grid energy supply.

Bitcoin supply is limited to 21 million, which is scheduled to be mined by 2140, according to Coingecko. Currently, 90% of the supply has been mined.
