Australian Open 2024: Three Women's Singles To Quarter Finals
JAKARTA The three Indonesian women's singles that were deployed in the Australian Open 2024 tournament were all compact to continue their journey to the quarter-finals.
The three names are Putri Kusuma Wardani, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, and Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi. All of them won two straight games over their opponents on Thursday, June 13, 2024, noon WIB.
Putri Kusuma Wardani went through the second round of the tournament after stopping the Indian women's singles, Anupama Upadhyaya, with the final score 21-11 and 21-18.
"The opponent in the second game began to find a pattern. This is different from in the first game. The opponent's game is also more tenuous and more pressing. When the critical points were, I played recklessly," said Putri after the match.

Putri, who became the sixth seed in this tournament, will then meet the second seed from Japan, Aya Ohori. The record for winning 1-0 so far belongs to Putri.
Women's one-on-one competitive win against Ohori occurred at the beginning of last year when they faced off at the Indonesia Masters 2023. The daughter at that time won after going through a rubber game.
"To face a quarter-final match, against anyone I am ready," said Putri, who is also the dual profession as a policewoman.
Meanwhile, in another match, Komang defeated Lauren Lam (United States) and Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo to stop India's Malvika Bansod from reaching the top eight.
Kompak passed that the two representatives immediately faced each other in the quarter-finals which will take place on Friday, June 14, 2024. This means that one semifinal ticket for Indonesia from the women's singles is already in hand.
Ester and Komang have previously clashed competitively three times. Of that number, Ester won 2-1 wins over her colleague at the PBSI National Training Center (Pelatnas).
