Shell Eco- Marathon Will Be Held In Indonesia In Early July, Followed By 40 Teams Of Children Of The Nation

JAKARTA - Indonesia will again host the Shell Eco-montal Asia-Pacific and the Middle East event which will be held at the Mandalika International Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

This is the third time in a row that the archipelago has hosted a competition organized by the well-known oil company Shell. This event will be a show for students in creating fast vehicles, but have a high level of efficiency.

Vice President of Corporate Relations of Shell Indonesia, Susi Hutapea, said that this event will be included by more than 80 student teams in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East areas with 40 of them coming from Indonesia.

This year's Shell Eco Marathon is the third in Indonesia. Covering the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions, this event consists of more than 80 student teams," Susi said in her explanation to the media in the Cipete area, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 11.

Among the contestants from Indonesia who competed in this event, the Arjuna University of Indonesia (UI) team and the Bumi Siliwangi 2 team at the University of Education Indonesia (UPI) will again compete in this competition.

The Arjuna UI team will compete in the Urban Concept category with the electric battery sub-category. Last year, these students took fourth place in the regional championship in this event.

"Reflecting on last year, we want to continue the mindset for the champion. Because of Shell's support, this motivates us to design a car that is efficient but also fast," said team manager Arjuna UI Zahran Mizuya.

Meanwhile, the Bumi Siliwangi 2 UPI team will compete in the Prototype category for the hydrogen subcategory. Previously, these students from Bandung were ranked third in the same category.

Our preparation for this year is that there is improvement in terms of chassis and technicality. However, for the body to maintain the last year," explained the person in charge of the Bumi Siliwangi 2 UPI team, Tendi Febrian.

Shell Eco-montal Asia-Pacific and the Middle East 2024 provides an opportunity for teams of students to compete in the categories of Urban Concept and Prototype vehicles. The energy sources used are divided into three subcategories; namely internal combustion engines (gasoline, diesel or ethanol), electric batteries, and hydrogen fuel cells.

This event will be held on July 2-6, 2024. This is a global innovation competition that challenges the younger generation to design, create and test energy-efficient vehicles. This program brings together the expertise and brilliant ideas of students around the world to present innovative and cleaner energy solutions.
