Bulog Boss Sets Domestic Rice Absorption Target Reaches 1 Million Tons
President Director of the Public Logistics Agency (Perum Bulog) Bayu Krisnamurthi targets to absorb 1 million tons of domestic rice as in previous years.
"We are optimistic that by the end of the year domestic procurement can be 1 million tons, approximately the same as the procurement of 2023 and higher than 2022," he said in a hearing with Commission IV of the DPR, Parliament Complex, Monday, June 10.
Even so, Bayu admitted that it is not easy to absorb domestic rice this year. The reason is, rice production has also decreased.
"It's not easy, this year's production as of May was 2.5 million tons lower than in the previous year," he explained.
Bayu said the absorption of domestic rice had reached 688,887 tons at this time. He said the figure had exceeded the target set at the time of the harvest.
"The total domestic procurement of 688,877 tons is approximately 110 percent of the target for the 2024 main harvest season until May," he said.
