Shin Tae-yong Is Not Worried About The Philippine Naturalization Squad

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team will play the last match of the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification against the Philippines at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

The Garuda squad must win for the sake of qualifying for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

Even though the Philippines certainly did not qualify, they did not deserve to be underestimated. Moreover, The Azkals has the material to play in contrast to the many naturalized players.

Shin Tae-yong admitted that he was not worried about the strength of the Philippines. He has analyzed the opponent and prepared his troops to win.

"I have analyzed by watching Vietnam's match against the Philippines. Indeed, I cannot speak about the results of the opponent's analysis and how we will anticipate it."

"However, the important thing is not to worry. Our analysis has been completed regarding what kind of opposing team," Shin Tae-yong said at a press conference on Monday, June 10, 2024.

The issue of Shin Tae-yong stressing thinking about the match against the Philippines is denied.

"Indeed, now the flu is a little severe. It's just a cough problem actually. However, there is no stress," said the South Korean coach.

Apart from not being afraid of the strength of the Philippines, Shin Tae-yong is very confident in the ability of the Indonesian national team.

He said his troops had developed. Moreover, Marselino Ferdinand and colleagues learned a valuable lesson from the 0-2 defeat to Iraq.

"Players are the same as usual, the preparations are good. Indeed, what is called a match, you can win or lose."

"Indonesia with its 134th FIFA ranking against 58th-ranked Iraq, we can give our best too."

"In terms of ability, it's no less distant. We will also try to continue to improve. So, ask for support from Indonesian fans. The players are also aware and are preparing well," said Shin Tae-yong again.

Meanwhile, some time ago the Philippines projected a number of players for naturalization. Eight met the diaspora requirements, namely Raphael Obermair (Paderborn), Dylan Demuneck (Zulte Waregem), Johannes Selven (Odense BK), Anthony Markanich (St. Louis City), Joseph Baccat, Zico Bailey (New Mexico United), Adrian Ugelvik (Levanger FK), and Bjorn Martin Christensen (Aalesunds FK).
