Victory In France Opens Moment Of Proudness Carlos Alcaraz, Wants Eifel Tower Tattoos

JAKARTA - Carlos Alcaraz stated that his first win at the French Open on Sunday, June 9, was the proudest moment in his tennis career. Especially after the Spaniard became the youngest man to win a Grand Slam in all three major tennis tournaments, following the Grand Salm titles at Wimbledon and the US Open.

The 21-year-old beat Germany's Alexander Zverev with a score of 6-3 2-6 5-7 6-1 6-2 at Roland Garros. He joined an elite club that includes legends such as Mats Wilander, Jimmytasis, Andre Agas, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic.

However, after arriving in Paris with a few matches under his belt due to a right arm injury, Alcaraz said his achievements this time felt more special.

"Of course winning the US Open (in 2022) when I first reached world number one, something I've dreamed of since I started playing tennis, getting my first Grand Slam. So it's very special," said Alcaraz.

"The way I won Wimbledon (in 2023), beating Djokovic in five sets was a big achievement for me. Currently, lifting the Roland Garros trophy, knowing everything I've been through the past month with injury and all that, I don't know. Maybe this is a really proud moment, because everything I've done in the past month is just to be ready to face this tournament with my team, a lot of talk with them. If I have to train, if I can't train or discuss with them. It's really difficult for me, to be honest, "said Alcaraz.

Alcaraz has withdrawn from the Monte Carlo and Barcelona Open tournaments due to injury and despite trying to defend his title at Madrid, which ended in the quarter-finals, he also missed the Italian Open.

"I consider myself as a player who doesn't need too many games just to get to 100%. I have had a very good week here in Paris, training with good players," Alcaraz said.

"I feel really good playing set, moving, hitting my shots before the tournament starts. Of course, every game I play, I get better and better," he said.

Alcaraz said he would mark his latest win by tattooing the Eiffel Tower with a winning date, having previously made tattoos after another great success.

"I have to find time. But I will do it for sure. It will be on the left ankle," Alcaraz said. "Wimbledon on the right ankle. Here it will be on the left ankle, I think with the Eiffel Tower, with the date," Alcaraz said.
