2024 Election Stages Completed, Golkar Secures 102 Parliamentary Seats

JAKARTA - The Golkar Party has confirmed control of 18% of the DPR seats after securing 102 seats in the 2024 General Election. The certainty of 18% of the people's representatives in this parliament after the Constitutional Court (MK) finished reading the decision on the dispute over the results of the general election (PHPU) for the DPR Legislative Election at the Constitutional Court (MK) on Thursday last week.

"Alhamdulillah, under the leadership of Ketum Airlangga Hartarto, Golkar controlled 18 percent or received 102 seats in the DPR from all contested seats. This figure is fantastic because Golkar's seat has increased by 17 seats compared to the 2019 election," said Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP Election. Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tandjung told reporters, Sunday, June 9.

Doli said the increase in the seat acquisition of the DPR was complemented by the victory of the two best sons and daughters of the Golkar Party at the trial of the Constitutional Court's PHPU lawsuit. Both are candidates from the West Java electoral district I Nurul Arifin and the Central Papua electoral district candidate Soedeson Tandra. They made sure to walk to Senayan after winning the dispute in their respective electoral districts.

"Both cadres, Mrs. Nurul and Soedeson Tandra are cadres who are persistent in fighting for Golkar's victory at the Constitutional Court PHPU. Both are the best sons and daughters of the Golkar Party who have completed the number of seats acquired by the DPR to 102," said the Acting Chairman of the DPD Golkar Papua.

Doli assessed that the acquisition of Golkar seats in the DPR shows that the public accepts and approves the Golkar Party's attitudes and policies during President Joko Widodo's administration.

According to him, under Airlangga's leadership, Golkar consistently secured President Jokowi's strategic policies and was committed to maintaining sustainability by fully supporting the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government.

In addition to successfully controlling 18% of the DPR seats, Golkar also dominated the seat acquisition at the provincial DPRD level. Golkar is the party that gets the most seats in the Provincial DPRD, up 50 seats to 359 seats from the previous 309 in the 2019 election. The banyan party also dominates the acquisition of provincial-level DPRD leaders throughout Indonesia.

The achievement of Golkar seats at the provincial level was also followed by the acquisition of DPRD seats at the district and city levels. Golkar secured 2,521 district/city DPRD seats throughout Indonesia.

"This number is equivalent to 14.4 percent of the total 17,510 district/city DPRD seats throughout Indonesia," explained Doli.

In fact, Airlangga also succeeded in delivering 120 Golkar cadres to the chair of the DPRD chairman, as well as 220 deputy chairmen for district and city DPRDs throughout Indonesia.

In Doli's notes, there was an increase in the number of district/city DPRD seats from the Golkar Party by 99 seats or 4 percent compared to the 2019 election as many as 2,422 seats.
