Provincial Government Hopes Jakarta Residents More Streets And Use Transum

JAKARTA - Pollution from vehicles seems to be one of the concerns regarding the poor air quality in Jakarta. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has more residents walking and using public transportation to help restore air quality.

"Hopefully, with more public awareness to use public transportation, then walking, God willing, Jakarta air can get better," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency Asep Kuswanto in Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Sunday, June 9.

Asep said that one of the government's efforts was to invite the public to walk, namely by campaigning for foot through the challenge of 7,500 steps per day for 14 days, which is part of the activities of Jakarta BERJAGA (Move, Work, Exercise and Happiness), as well as commemorating World Environment Day.

"We hope that by campaigning for this walk, the community can also reduce exhaust gas in Jakarta and we invite the public to continue using public transportation," he explained. Regarding the challenges, Acting Governor (Pj) of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono who was also present on the occasion was in line with Asep hopes that this will motivate the public, including ASN in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, to continue to carry out a healthy lifestyle.

The challenge of walking 7,500 steps every day during the first 14 days was attended by around 5,300 people and 2,947 people including ASN in the DKI Provincial Government.

The challenge then won a record from the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) for the most ASN categories participating.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Office Ani Ruspitawati on the same occasion argued that walking 7,500 steps per day for 14 days, including adequate for every day by the community.

Therefore, the government is committed to continuing similar challenges throughout the year and along with that continue to invite the public to participate.

"We also give encouragement to continue the challenges and this campaign does not actually stop today, because it will be our campaign throughout the year to continue to invite people to move and move," he said.
