West Java Police Forms Assistance Team, Pegu Peti Setiwan: Less Fair, Don't Dare To Open Violations
JAKARTA - Pegi Setiawan's legal advisory team assessed that the West Java Regional Police's move to form an assistance team to oversee the handling of the Vina Cirebon murder case was still not enough.
Because, there are concerns about lack of courage to act when finding violations of investigation procedures.
"If the Assistance Team is only from the Regional Police, I don't think it's fair. I'm worried that when I find a violation of the procedure, I don't dare to open it as a finding of harassment," said Pegi Setiawan's legal adviser, Toni RM to VOI, Friday, June 7.
Toni still believes that Bareskrim Polri, especially the Bureau ofwassidik, must intervene as a supervisor in handling the case.
Not only that, justice and transparency are only felt when the petition is made so that the Bureau ofwassidik conducts a special case title.
"It must be from the National Police Headquarters by involving the Bureau ofwassidik, Propam Division, Irwasum and Kompolnas, and the results must be conveyed openly," said Toni.
The West Java Regional Police have decided to form an assistance team in handling the alleged murder case of Vina Cirebon. The team contains Itwasda to Propam who is in charge of overseeing the investigation process.
"In handling the investigation of this case, the West Java Police have formed an Assistance Team consisting of Itwasda, Propam and Ditreskrimum (as supervisors of investigators)," said Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police Kombes Jules Abraham Abast.

The assistance team also involved external parties such as the National Police Commission (Kompolnas). This was done to show transparency of the West Java Police in dealing with the case.
"There are external parties, namely Kompolnas and Komnas HAM who are also monitoring the ongoing investigation process," he said
