SKK Migas And Italian Oil And Gas Giants Hold 3D Seismic Survey Worth IDR 1.1 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) is currently coordinating with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and ENI Indonesia regarding the 3D seismic survey plan with a planned cost of 70 million US dollars or equivalent to IDR 1.1 trillion (exchange rate 1 Dollar = IDR 15,800).

The survey activity came from the transfer of the remaining value of Arguni I Work Area I and West Timor Working Area to open areas.

Head of the Oil and Gas Prospectivity Division and SKK Migas Working Area Data Management Asnidar said the implementation of the 3D seismic survey was a step by the government and SKK Migas to find oil and gas reserves and increase production by encouraging increased exploration activities, both within the work area and in open areas, which aim to find potential new oil and gas reserves.

"This survey activity is expected to open up potential new resources in Kutai Basin and produce new prospective working areas and be followed by further investment of prospective working areas through joint studies or regular tenders," said Asnidar, Friday, June 7.

The Head of the Kalimantan-Sulawesi SKK Migas Representative, Azhari Idris, expressed his support for the SKK Migas Representative for Kalimantan - Sulawesi against the seismic survey plan.

"We and the Contractors will coordinate and cooperate with government stakeholders and fishing communities, especially regarding the non-technical aspect, communicating and mapping social issues in the survey area to ensure government activities in an effort to find new sources of oil and gas reserves that are running well," explained Azhari.

Regarding the plan for a seismic survey in open areas in Kutai Basin, Coordinator of Oil and Gas Exploration Supervision, Directorate General of MIGAS of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Yulianto said the government always supports exploration activities in open areas and will always synergize with SKK Migas and Contractors to get potential regional candidates to become potential candidates for working areas.

"We hope that the implementation of 3D seismic is successful and gets results according to the target, contractors should coordinate at any time with SKK Migas, MIGAS and other stakeholders," concluded Yulianto.
