Up 10 Percent, Pertamina Oil Production In 2023 Capai 566,000 BOPD

JAKARTA - Pertamina's oil production in 2023 recorded an increase of 10 percent compared to oil production in 2022. Pertamina's oil production rose from 514.000 Barrels per Day (BOPD) in 2022 to 56.000 BOPD in 2023.

Deputy President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Wiko Migantoro, said that Pertamina's oil production in 2023 was supported by domestic production of 415 MBOPD and 151 MBOPD from international.

Domestic oil production in 2023 has indeed fluctuated from 417 MBOPD to 415 MBOPD, but for blocks where Pertamina as its production operator has increased from 337 MBOPD to 339 MBOPD. Pertamina itself managed to manage the oil decline rate from 19 percent to 2 percent through productive work programs.

"Domestic gas production has increased by 3 percent from 2,241 MMSCFD in 2022 to 2,388 MMSCFD in 2023," said Wiko, quoted on Friday, June 7.

Throughout 2023, added Wiko, Pertamina has drilled 799 wells massively, 16 percent higher than in 2022. Pertamina also carried out 835 jobs or 31 percent higher than 2022 and 32,589 well maintenance work or 11 percent higher than 2022.

"Currently Pertamina contributes 69 percent of national lifting for oil and gas by 34 percent nationally," said Wiko.

Wiko added that activities upstream of Pertamina's oil and gas contributed to state revenues both nationally and regionally. Upstream Pertamina's Oil and Gas contributed USD 3 billion from taxes and USD 4.2 billion from Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP).

Pertamina's Vice President of Corporate Communication, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, said Pertamina allocates large investments upstream of oil and gas to maintain the decline rate and at the same time increase oil and gas production.

"Pertamina's CAPex is around 60 percent focused upstream of oil and gas to support national energy resilience and independence," said Fadjar.
