Ministry Of Agriculture Ensures Sacrificial Animals Throughout Indonesia Are Safe And Sufficient

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) ensures that the supply of sacrificial animals reaching 2.06 million heads consisting of cows, buffalo, goats and sheep throughout Indonesia for Eid al-Adha 2024 is ensured to be safe and sufficient.

"God willing, it is safe. The Director General has reported it to me, so it is certain that it is safe, the number is also sufficient for (Iduladha)," said Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman during a visit to Tangerang, quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 6.

Based on data from the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health (Ditjen PKH), nationally, the need for sacrificial animals is at 1.97 million heads, with availability reaching 2.06 million heads. So the availability of sacrificial animals this year has the potential to be a surplus of up to 88 thousand heads.

Although from this data, it is certain that the number of availability of sacrificial animals to meet the needs of the community nationally is very sufficient and even a surplus.

"So in preparation for safe sacrifice, 1 million is enough, but most importantly in the future we will develop a better livestock model," he said.

The Ministry of Agriculture itself has mapped the need for sacrifice for all parts of Indonesia, starting from deficits to livestock production surpluses.

In addition, the government is ready to intervene in the event of a shortage of sacrificial needs in certain areas by mobilizing production from surplus areas to deficit areas.

He added that his party will also focus on ensuring from the aspect of animal health by taking various important steps to ensure the smooth implementation of this year's sacrifice.

"We ensure that the trafficked livestock health certificates are complete, check the ear tag to ensure that the livestock has been registered and we deploy animal health workers in the district/city to carry out routine checks at livestock reservoirs," he said.

In this case, Minister of Agriculture Amran checked the animal farm owned by PT Lembu Setia Abadi Jaya (LSAJ) Farm Tangerang.

The animal farm company has an area of 22.5 hectares, with the contents of the cow's cage, a mini feed plant with a capacity of 40 tons per day, and plans for a fertilizer factory, RPH, meatball factory, sausage, nuggets, meat shop, and cold storage.

The PT. LSAJ cattle coop building has a capacity of up to 3,000 heads with an expansion plan of up to 10,000 heads.
