Jokowi Believes IKN Air Is Much Better Than Melbourne And Paris
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) believes that the air quality index in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, is almost twice as good than the air in Melbourne and Paris City.
"This morning, I compared the air quality index in Jakarta, Singapore, Melbourne, Paris and in the archipelago," said President Jokowi during a speech on the groundbreaking agenda for the construction of the Bank BTN IKN building, Wednesday, June 5, quoted from ANTARA.
The Head of State said the air quality index in Melbourne and Paris was at 38 of the good air standards in the 0-50 range. While the air quality indicators in Singapore are at 44.
"In the capital city of the archipelago, it has not been measured. But I believe, definitely around 20," he said.
On that occasion, the President also compared the air quality in Jakarta in the same period, reaching 176.
"In Jakarta, it is far from that standard. I think it is not only in Jakarta, but also in Bodetabek," he said.
Jokowi said that IKN as the concept of a future city needs to be supported by fulfilling good air quality, one of which is through the operation of electric-powered vehicles.

The Head of State again believes that the IKN air quality index can be reduced to zero, when conventional vehicles contributing to pollution in the local area are not allowed to operate.
"Moreover, later, only electric vehicles will be allowed, it will be zero, because the use of energy here is allowed for green energy. This is the concept of the capital city of the archipelago in the future," he said.
