BKPM: If You Meet The Requirements, The NU Mining Permit In East Kalimantan Will Be Issued For 15 Days

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) stated that the application for a special mining business permit (IUPK) proposed by the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) at the East Kalimantan coal mine, if it fulfills the requirements, within 15 days the IUPK can be issued," said Deputy for Capital Development of the Ministry of Investment/BKPM Yuliot Tanjung, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, June 4. According to him, the application for a coal mining permit from PBNU that intends to manage the special mining business permit (WIUPK) area in East Kalimantan, is currently in the evaluation process to see the completeness of the administration and fulfillment of obligations. He said that his party had not received a request for mining permits from other religious organizations to manage mines in Indonesia. "Only PBNU proposed," he said. Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadillia stated that he would immediately issue a mining business permit (IUP) for coal management for the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), in order to optimize the role of religious organizations. He reasoned that the granting of business permits to PBNU was because he was proud of the largest Islamic organization in the world from Indonesia that had contributed a lot to state development.

"I am proud of NU because I was born from the womb of a mother who is an NU cadre," he said. President Joko Widodo on Thursday 30 May signed a Government Regulation (PP) 25/2024 concerning Amendments to PP 96/2021 concerning the Implementation of Mineral and Coal Mining Business Activities (Minerba). Article 83A PP 25/2024 states that the new regulation allows religious community organizations such as NU and Muhammadiyah to manage special mining permits (WIUPK).
