Minister Of Transportation: Provision Of Electric Vehicles In IKN Areas Is A Priority
Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said his party fully supports the provision of electric vehicles in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.
"The Ministry of Transportation prioritizes the provision of low emission transportation equipment, in this case electric vehicles in the IKN area. This is important to maintain air quality in the IKN area," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, June 4.
Furthermore, Budi also explained, to achieve zero emissions in the IKN area, the Ministry of Transportation has prepared several effective strategies, such as preparing intermodal transportation services in the IKN buffer zone.
Budi also revealed that the intermodal transportation service network from the buffer city of IKN to the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) of IKN has already been and will operate, including transportation between the Balikpapan-IKN (Rest Area) intermodal transportation Samarinda-IKN (Park n Ride 2).
"For transportation services between Balikpapan-IKN modes via Simpang Samboja, it has been operating since November 1, 2022," he said.
Budi said that after the operation of the IKN toll road, the Balikpapan-IKN intermodal transportation service would later be changed to a toll road, as well as the Samarinda-IKN intermodal transportation service.
"After the operation of the toll road, the end point of service for non-electric buses is Park and Ride 2 as a transit point, then passengers will switch modes to IKN urban transportation using Electric Vehicle," explained the Minister of Transportation.
In addition, Budi said the Ministry of Transportation had carried out a technical transportation planning study at KIPP stage 1 by proposing 3 route routes for electric bus services.
The three routes are the Park & Ride route to the Grand Mosque with a total need for 13 medium buses, the Park & ride to Botanical Garden route with a total need for a fleet of 7 medium buses, and the Park & ride 1 to Park & ride 2 routes with a total need for 21 fleets.
