Acting Governor Of North Maluku Presented By KPK At The Abdul Gani Kasuba Session

JAKARTA - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) presented five witnesses at the alleged bribery trial that ensnared the inactive North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba on Wednesday, June 5.

Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said that one of the witnesses requested to attend the trial was Samsuddin Abdul Kadir, who was previously the Regional Secretary of North Maluku Province and is the current Acting Governor of North Maluku.

"Located at the Corruption Court at the Ternate District Court, the team of prosecutors will present the following witnesses," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters in a written statement, Tuesday, June 4.

Apart from Samsuddin, there were four other witnesses who were presented as witnesses in the trial. They are the Head of the North Maluku Province BKD Muhammad Miftah Baay; North Maluku Regional Inspector Nirwan MT Ali; Saiful Deni who is the Chancellor of Muhammadiyah University, North Maluku; and a civil servant named Idwan Asbur Baha.

The presence of these witnesses is expected to make their actions clear. Moreover, their statements will be presented before the Panel of Judges at the Corruption Court at the Ternate District Court.

"To open the role and active actions of the defendant Abdul Gani Kasuba et al in accepting bribes within the North Maluku Provincial Government," said Ali.

Previously reported, Abdul Gani Kasuba, who is the inactive Governor of North Maluku, sat as a defendant for allegedly accepting bribes and gratuities for buying and selling positions and infrastructure projects of more than Rp. 100 billion.

KPK prosecutor Rio Vernika Putra said AGK as a state administrator received gratuities of Rp99.8 billion and US$30 thousand via transfer or in cash. He is suspected of using 27 accounts of his own personal secretary, family, or property to make receipts.

In addition, AGK is also suspected of accepting bribes of IDR 2.2 billion. The money is allegedly used for hotel lodging to pay for his personal health needs

The prosecutor also said that the amount of money flowing into 27 accounts held or controlled by Ramadhan Ibrahim as an aide was Rp. 87 billion. Apart from that, AGK also received cash in the form of dollars worth 30 US dollars.
