VIDEO: Jokowi Gives Permission To Business Entities Owned By Religious Organizations Managing Mining

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has given special mining business permits to religious community organizations. This is stated in Government Regulation Number 25 of 2024 concerning Amendments to Government Regulation Number 96 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Mineral and Coal Mining Business Activities.

The PP was stipulated by Jokowi on May 30, 2024 and was effective on the promulgated date. In the regulation, there is one updated provision, namely: special mining business permit area (WIUPK) for religious organizations. The regulation also prioritizes WIUPK for business entities owned by religious organizations with the aim of providing equal opportunities and justice in managing natural wealth.

Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Yahya Cholil Staquf stated that PBNU is ready to manage the mining concessions provided by the government. Gus Yahya said that if Nahdlatul Ulama had qualified human resources, complete organizational devices and a strong enough business network to carry out these duties and responsibilities.

Gus Yahya promised that PBNU would be responsible for the mining concessions provided by the government and would take it seriously. Even PBNU will prepare its business structure and management, as well as prepare distribution channels from the center to villages for the results of the mining utilization. Watch the video below.
