President Jokowi Meresmikan SPALDT Pekanbaru City Built By PTPP

JAKARTA - PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) carried out the inauguration of the Central Domestic Waste Management System (SPALDT) in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. The inauguration ceremony was attended and inaugurated directly by President Joko Widodo which was symbolically marked by pressing the siren button and signing the inscription.

Also accompanying President Jokowi at the inauguration ceremony were Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Head of the National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi, Acting Governor of Riau SF Hariyanto, Acting Mayor of Pekanbaru Risnandar Mahiva, ADB Country Director of Jiro Tominaga, President Director of PTPP Novel Arsyad, President Director of Adhi Karya Entus Asnawi, and President Director of PT Wijaya Karya Agung Budi Waskito.

The scope of the PTPP project at SPALDT Pekanbaru city includes the construction of a Domestic Wastewater Processing Installation (IPALD) with a capacity of 8,100 m3 / with a land area of 1.57 ha with a contract value of Rp193.5 billion with a type of funding originating from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

IPALD with a capacity of 8,100 m3 / with a land area of 1.57 ha. The IPALD development uses the Industrialized Biofilm Activated Sludge (FBAS) technology which is environmentally friendly, can save carbon footprint from up to 30 percent of savings in electricity consumption and the amount of mud generated, and 50-60 percent is more land-efficient and does not smell good so that it can be placed anywhere and lower development costs.

In his remarks, President Joko Widodo said that today the people of Pekanbaru City have a centralized wastewater management system to maintain the quality of groundwater, maintain the quality of raw water they have. This wastewater management system has started in 2020.

"I ask that this wastewater management infrastructure is really used as well as possible to improve the quality of water services in the city of the new week and our environment to stay clean and healthy," said the President, quoted on Sunday, June 2.

PTPP President Director Novel Arsyad said he was proud to be able to complete the construction of SPALDT in Pekanbaru City which could increase PTPP competence in the field of wastewater management. Previously, PTPP had a similar project, namely SPALDT Palembang and SPALDT Makassar which had been inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as IPAL KIT Batang which is a National Strategic Project.

"Of course this project is in line with the Indonesian government's strategy to be able to improve public health status, create a clean and healthy environment, and in maintaining the survival of the Indonesian people," said Novel.
