Sandiaga Calls Gen Z Has A Role In Promoting Tourist Destinations

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said Generation Z or Gen Z has an important role in promoting tourist destinations so that they can attract domestic tourists to foreign countries.

Sandiaga said that Gen Z is a generation that has an important role in promoting tourism because most of them like to travel in interesting places or healing, even once every two months.

"The Public Housing (Tapera) relationship is important, but healing is super important for them (gen Z). Gen Z, they are healing not twice a year, but if possible every two months," said Sandiaga, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, June 2.

According to him, Gen Z will regularly conduct healing and it is certain that it will upload (posts) to various social media from every destination that has been visited.

This will certainly attract tourists if they see their uploads.

"So this is also why we invite them to be part of improving our tourism economy," said Sandiaga.

With the role of various sectors including Gen Z, Sandiaga said, it can spur the achievement of the Kemenparekraf target which targets domestic or domestic tourist visits in 2024 to reach 1.2 billion-1.5 billion people, while foreign tourists are targeted at 17 million visits.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/The Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kenparekraf/Baparekraf) presents immersive wonderspace or a space to explore five super priority destinations in Indonesia that visitors can enjoy via video mapping technology at the MRT Station of the HI Roundabout Jakarta.

Sandiaga said the immersive wonderspace presented at the Jakarta HI Roundabout MRT Station was to attract visitors to see and enjoy or take selfies of the beauty of five super priority destinations in Indonesia from a wide screen.

"This is the target for Gen Z, yes. And this Gen Z is what he wants to get an immersive experience that combines animation, real visualization and music. The music is really healing, music that can take our memory to beautiful places," he said.

Moreover, the five super priority tourist destinations that were presented, namely Borobudur Temple, Labuan Bajo, Mandalika, Lake Toba and Likupang. Visitors can enjoy the sensation of traveling to these destinations digitally.

The immersive Wonderspace at the Bundaran HI MRT Station is presented for a month from June 1-30, 2024.

Visitors can explore a number of tourist destinations digitally and take selfies with the specified time starting at 10.00 WIB until 22.00 WIB.

"The music is really healing, music that can take our memory to beautiful places. So, it has been proven that in some of these immersive activations it is very popular among gen Z," he concluded.
