Gresini Racing And SPORTPASS Launches Fan-Based MotoGP Sponsor Program

JAKARTA - Gresini Racing has partnered with MotoGP Guru and SPORTPASS, an Animoca Brands subsidiary, to launch a motorcycle sponsorship program supported by fans. This initiative allows MotoGP fans to buy private team sponsorship packages starting from 125 euros.

In an interview with Cointelegraph, Graeme Warning, WePlay Media Founder, discussed the biggest challenge in launching a MotoGP sponsorship package that fans can access:

The biggest challenge is, like anything else, selling it. Finding a suitable product or market when you launch something new that has never been done before is always challenging."

According to Warring, WePlay Media, the game studio behind MotoGP Guru, has developed the organizational infrastructure and field teams needed to "give 'life' into the experience of IRL (In Real Life), "said Warring.

Decentralization Implications

The decision to offer sponsors at a much cheaper cost makes this product available to a more diverse audience and reduces the risk of centralization.

As a point of fundamental talks in the crypto space, Warring said that this fan sponsorship program has the potential to decentralize the ownership of the MotoGP team and allow their fan base to get more involved.

Decentralization as a concept is at the heart of this program. Instead of a large corporate sponsor who dominates the sponsorship space, we innovate around the decentralized thesis of direct fan experience by fans," said Warring.

Sponsor Program

The sponsorship package will provide a VIP Paddock experience at the 2024 Grand Prix event, name placement on the team's motorcycle and website, as well as exclusive events.

Fans who have a team sponsorship package can also join Zoom calls with team members, get custom merchandise, and have the opportunity to win Ducati Panigale V4S which is used by Marc Marquez.
