Mercedes-Benz Serious Commitment Working On EV Purnajual Service In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The growth of electric vehicles is currently increasing quite rapidly in Indonesia in order to achieve environmentally friendly carbon-neutral mobility. To achieve this, it also requires support from adequate total sales services.

One of the manufacturers launching full electrification is Mercedes-Benz. Not only offering environmentally friendly products, this German manufacturer realizes that customers need to be given the convenience of encouraging them to buy electric vehicles.

Aftersales Head of PT Inchcape Indomobil Distribution Indonesia, Balian Prantolasarso, said that his party began to be serious in selling for EVs or hybrid assisted by technicians who had been certified at each dealer.

"So the technician has been certified from Hybrid, Electric. Until we have several internal teams sent to Germany to participate in training on electric vehicles," said Balian when interviewed by reporters in Bintaro, Tangerang, Friday, May 31.

In addition, he added that each dealer invests in handling electric cars, in the form of selecting technicians and providing equipment to accommodate EV repairs or handling.

"The investment is in the sense of the process, the qualifications of people, as well as equipment. The problem is that there are also different equipment. For example, at the dealer, we are obliged to have an external charger both in the parking lot and in the workshop. It is mandatory," added Balin.

However, not all official Mercedes-Benz dealers have adequate equipment for electric vehicles, such as charging because everything is done in stages.

"Currently only 12 of the 18 dealers have just had it, but gradually everything will have the same charger standards," said Balian.

His party also has a target that all dealers have technicians who have been certified to handle EVs this year or at the latest in 2025. However, it still gives time for out-of-town dealer networks to prepare.

"But in Jakarta everything can be done because the largest population of electric cars is currently there. So, there are not many areas for electric car sharing, we give time to prepare," concluded Balian.
