Army Chief Of Staff: Formation Of New Kodam Takes Long Time And Study
JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak said the plan to form a new military regional command (kodam) in Indonesia took quite a long time and needed a study.
General TNI Maruli stated that the plan to add Kodam itself cannot be separated from the dynamics of the people who continue to grow so that they must expand regional performance, then observe the form of regional threats so that the Kodam development function can be in harmony in the community.
"The formation of the Kodambaru will see from the form of threats, the form of its function is for the army to serve. It must be adjusted because our population is large, the dynamics is wider. What can be done in the region," said the Army Chief of Staff, Friday, May 31.
According to him, adjustments in this case the formation of a new Kodam have been through a study so that the results can be maximized according to the needs of the community. The formation of the new Kodam can also be realized over a long period of time.
"I think it will take quite a while," he asserted.
When alluding to the plan to form a Kodam unit in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, General Maruli said he was still in preparation.
"Later, all 17 of us will be there (IKN). We have prepared it," he said.

Previously, TNI General Maruli Simanjuntak revealed that the TNI AD plan would place 18 units in IKN, East Kalimantan, in line with the plan to build the headquarters of the Kodim, Korem, and several Koramil in the new capital city.
