Following BMW Z4, Toyota GR Supra Will End Production In 2026
JAKARTA - Shocking news came from the Toyota camp. The sport model GR Supra will reportedly be stopped production in 2026 following news of an injection of the death of BMW Z4.
The production of the two cars was stopped as a result of the problems faced by Magna Steyr, the factory that produces these two models in Austria. It is noted that this company has dismissed about 500 employees at Graz.
The steps taken by Magna Steyr must be taken because a number of their homemade models such as BMW Series-5, Jaguar E-Face and I-Face, and Fisker Ocean are coming to an end.
This is also reinforced by a statement from Toyota Motor North America Group Vice President Dave Christ, who said that his party would evaluate all possibilities regarding the collaboration with BMW regarding Toyota GR Supra.
We partnered with BMW and this worked. We are evaluating what will happen next," Christ said as quoted by Carscoops, Thursday, May 30.
However, this Japanese manufacturer will still open up possibilities and seek everything so that GR Supra can survive in the future, including considering building its own base.
"I think if we want to build something, we'll think of a way to build it," Christ added.

Developed by the high performance division of Gazoo Racing (GR), the model was built on the same platform as BMW Z4. GR Supra is also a successor to the fourth generation whose production was stopped in 2002.
Currently, this sports car is equipped with a 3.0 liter 6-cylinder engine supplied from BMW, making it one of the most powerful Toyota production cars in the modern era.
In March, the manufacturer was also developing a most powerful version of this model called Supra GRMN at the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit, Germany.
It is possible that this two-door-style sedan will use the same engine as M4 CSL, 3.0 liters twin-turbo so that it produces up to 543 dk of power and 649 Nm of torque.
Supra GRMN is also rumored to be bridging the presence of the latest generation Supra by carrying the first millid-hybrid technology in this series.
