Having The Heart To Sell Wife Via Social Media, Husband In Surabaya Sentenced To 2 Years 6 Months In Prison
SURABAYA - It is proven that he had the heart to sell his own wife to a masher for sexual intercourse, a husband with the initials ALS in Surabaya was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison by a panel of judges at the Surabaya District Court (PN).
Ironically, the defendant's actions argued on the grounds that the family's economic pressure factor had the heart to market his own wife through social media.
In a trial held at the Surabaya District Court with an agenda for reading the verdict, the defendant ALS was found guilty of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) of Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) in conjunction with Article 296 of the Criminal Code.
On that basis, the Panel of Judges at the Surabaya District Court sentenced the defendant to 2 years, 6 months. Responding to this sentence, the defendant admitted that he regretted his actions and accepted the judge's decision.
Meanwhile, the public prosecutor (JPU) is still thinking about it because the verdict handed down by the panel of judges is lower than the prosecutor's demand, which previously demanded 3 years in prison.
"We previously charged the defendant with 3 years, but the judge decided 2 years and 6 months. So we are thinking (considering) yes in accordance with the law," said one member of JPU Dwi Hartanta in Surabaya, Wednesday.
It is known, in the indictment that around March 2023, the defendant sold his own wife to have sex with other people at a rate of Rp. 500,000 one date. At first the wife refused on the grounds that she still remembered her child.
