BMKG: Majority of Indonesian Territory Thursday 30 May 2024 Hit by Rain

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that the potential for heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, lightning, and lightning could potentially hit the majority of Indonesia on Thursday, May 30.

Based on the official BMKG website in Jakarta, Thursday, the areas potentially affected by the attack include Aceh, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, South Sumatra, and East Nusa Tenggara.

Apart from that, Riau, Jambi, West Java, South Kalimantan, West Sulawesi, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua and Papua.

Head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati said the potential for this rain will continue until the end of May and finally Indonesia will enter a drought from June to September 2024.

This drought condition was marked after 19 percent of Indonesia's territory entered the dry season with some areas in Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara will enter the dry season in the next 30 days.

Therefore, preparedness from the central government and regional governments needs to continue because other parts of Indonesia will still experience rain for some time to come.

"This rain has the potential to impact wet hydrometeorological disasters, such as floods, flash floods, lava floods and landslides," she said.
