MLFF System Ready To Be Implemented This Year, Transportation Observer Reveals Excess And Lacks
JAKARTA - The contactless non-cash toll transaction system or Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) will be ready to be implemented this year. The plan is that the implementation of the toll road system without stopping will be carried out on the Bali Mandara Toll Road in October 2024.
Related to this, the Head of the MTI Urban Transportation Forum, Budi Yulianto, said the MLFF system allows vehicles to pass through toll gates without having to stop or pay manually.
"This increases the smooth running of traffic on toll roads by reducing waiting times at toll gates," Budi told VOI, Wednesday, May 29.
Budi said that the implementation of MLFF could also provide time efficiency for toll users. Because, they don't need to stop at toll gates and travel time becomes more efficient.
"Drivers do not need to slow down their vehicles or experience long queues at toll gates," he said.
In addition, the MLFF system will make fuel savings. The reason is, toll road users do not need to stop paying.
"This also reduces exhaust emissions produced by vehicles when they stop and accelerate again," he said.
Even so, said Budi, there will also be people who do not receive the MLFF system due to limited public awareness and acceptance.
According to him, some drivers may be uncomfortable with the use of vehicle scanning technology related to the MLFF system due to concerns about data privacy and security.
"This can result in resistance or resistance from some people to the adoption of this system," he said.

Furthermore, Budi assessed that potential security and privacy violations, where the use of vehicle scanning technology in the MLFF system could raise concerns about data privacy and security.
"Vehicle data and payment information can be targeted for unauthorized parties if the system is not safe enough," he added.

Through this technology, toll road users can enter and leave without having to stop to pay.
