Singapore Open 2024: Opponents Withdraw, Ginting To The Second Round
JAKARTA Anthony Sinisuka Ginting does not need to spend his energy and sweat to get tickets to the second round of the Singapore Open 2024.
The defending and seventh seed was supposed to play the first round against Malaysia's singles, Lee Zii Jia, on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
However, Lee Zii Jia withdrew from the tournament so Ginting automatically won the walkover and got a ticket to the round of 16 of this Super 750 BWF level tournament.
"Lee withdrew from the match due to a hamstring injury," said the statement from the national badminton parent PBSI on their official Instagram.
In the second half, Ginting will face China Taipei's singles, Lin Chun-Yi, who qualified for the second half after stopping Hong Kong's representative, Ng Ka Long Angus.

Previously, this morning, Indonesia's third ticket had been secured by the mixed doubles pair Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.
Dejan/Gloria went through the first round of the tournament after a landslide win of two straight games over seventh seed from Hong Kong, Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet.
In the second half, Dejan/Gloria will meet China's Taipei representative, Ye Hong Wei/Lee Chia Hsin. The pair beat South Korean mixed doubles Ko Sung-hyun/Eom Hye-won in the first half.
"For tomorrow we must not be careless against Ye Hong Wei/Lee Chia Hsin, take care of good conditions, especially since this is our third tournament in a row," said Gloria.
Previously on the first day, two tickets to the second half for Indonesia were secured by Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.
