DKI Dukcapil Affirms Deactivated NIK Can Still Be Reactivated

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Agency (Dukcapil) confirmed that the policy of deactivation of the population identification number (NIK) was temporary.

Thus, the people of Jakarta who live outside the area whose NIK is deactivated can still take care of reactivation while taking care of the transfer of their population documents.

"The deactivation is not carried out permanently because there is a mechanism for reactivation," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Dukcapil Office Budi Awaluddin in his statement, Wednesday, May 29.

Budi explained, residents who enter the proposed deactivation but have taken care of the transfer or report to the kelurahan with the results of the field verification that strengthens also do not need to worry.

Because, even though the NIK is still registered in the Citizens' Data, it will not be submitted for deactivation.

Furthermore, Budi said that the deactivation of the NIK for Jakarta residents living outside the area will begin next month.

In June, the DKI Provincial Government will submit a list of NIK Jakarta residents who have been domiciled outside the city to be deactivated to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).

"The deactivation of the NIK will be carried out in stages, and not simultaneously," said Budi.

In the policy of deactivation of the NIK, the DKI Provincial Government has disabled around 130 thousand NIK residents in the category who have died and residents in the neighborhood unit (RT) who no longer exist.

Then, the deactivation of the NIK of Jakarta residents who already live outside the area will be carried out after the initial two categories have been deactivated.

Ahead of the implementation of the next phase of the NIK deactivation, it was recorded that more than 213 thousand residents who no longer live in Jakarta have moved population administration according to their current domicile outside the city.
