Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto said that moderate to high escalation is expected to occur during the 2024 simultaneous regional head elections or regional elections.
This estimate is based on the results of the deepening of intelligence institutions in Indonesia.
"Yes, approaching the simultaneous regional elections, I convey that the estimated itelijen is then the escalation is moderate to high," Hadi told reporters, Tuesday, May 28.
Therefore, intelligence agencies must focus on making prevention plans or anticipating moderate to high escalation.
"Especially in the simultaneous regional elections which will be attended by 37 Governors, 93 Regents and 415 Mayors throughout the security forces are clearly divided equally," he said.
"So if the intelligence estimate is sharp, so that if there is a problem, it can immediately solve it," continued Hadi.
However, Hadi said he did not provide directions regarding the Pilkada in Papua when he was a speaker at the 2024 National Police Baintelkam Technical Working Meeting (rakernis).
