BNPB: The Explosives Of The Large Material For The Marapi Bulk Are Not Threatening Residents' Settlements
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) ensures that the explosion of volcanic material in the form of large rocks that are still piling up around the slopes of Mount Marapi will not threaten the community's settlement.
"The blast areas are carried out within a certain radius and must be sterile, and security is carried out by the TNI and Polri," said BNPB Emergency Resources Support Director Agus Riyanto at Minangkabau International Airport, Padang Pariaman, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 28.
BNPB also appealed and reminded people living around the slopes of Mount Marapi in Agam Regency and Tanah Datar Regency not to approach the blast area for safety purposes.
Democracy or detonation was carried out to anticipate large rocks that were still on the slopes of the volcano that hit community settlements in the event of a further cold lava flood.
Agus said, before detonating large stones, BNPB and related teams first drilled the stones to enter explosives. His party confirmed that the rock explosion had gone through a number of in-depth studies and involved many parties. This includes the mapping of the area that will be carried out demolish.
"So, we will calculate the impact. This means that it is not just blowing it up because it has gone through a study," he said.

The demonstration of large rocks on Mount Marapi is the first time that BNPB has carried out, especially in active volcanic areas. If successful, then BNPB will make it a pilot project for disaster mitigation in other areas.
Finally, the large rock explosion effort will continue to be monitored by BNPB. This is because the agency also anticipates that the demolish should not be counterproductive, causing negative impact.
"We make sure that BNPB will continue to monitor the process of detonating these rocks," Agus emphasized.
