Madura United Admits Defeat To Persib And Securities
JAKARTA - Madura United's interim coach, Rachmat Basuki, admits that possession does not guarantee the final result. After losing 0-3 to Persib Bandung, he also admitted many lessons.
Madura United got an away schedule first in the first leg of the 2023/2024 League 1 Championship Series final. Visiting Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency, on Sunday, May 26, 2024, WIB night, the visitors lost 0-3.
In that match, Madura United actually dominated possession and was able to set the tempo of the game. However, throughout the first half, not a single goal could be scored by Malik Rasidi and colleagues.
Likewise at the beginning of the second half, instead of being able to break the deadlock thanks to possession, Madura United actually conceded three goals in the second half.

After the match, Rachmat Basuki realized that the possession of the ball that was characteristic of the team could not be done optimally. This is evident from the lack of shots towards Kevin Ray Mendoza's goal.
"Of course this is not the result we want. However, players have tried very well. We dominated the game in the first half, although unfortunately we lost momentum," said Rachmat Basuki in a press conference after the match on Sunday, May 26, 2024, evening WIB.
"Good possession of the ball, that's what we rely on in our game. Only this time, that possession only stops in the middle area. So, I think we are less sharp in the future," said the caretaker again.
After the match, Rachmat Basuki admitted that the match against Persib Bandung provided many lessons for his team. He also said that the game system carried by Bojan Hodak was very effective in making his team difficult.
"The point is, Persib can get out of pressure in the second half. They did very effective football and we failed to anticipate it. So, yes, we have to admit that tonight Persib did play very well," he said.
Madura United will host the second leg of the 2023/2024 League 1 Championship Series final at the Gelora Bangkalan Stadium on Friday, May 31, 2024.
