Becoming The Public Spotlight, Who Is Piers Morgan Who Called Meghan Markle 'Princess Pinocchio'?
JAKARTA - Presenter Piers Morgan has been in the public spotlight some time ago. Not because of his achievements, but because of his various comments which are often in a negative direction.
Maybe, on the internet or around us, the figure of Morgan is not something that is so influential. But in Great Britain, Morgan is a public figure known for his work in the media.
Morgan has been a journalist and editor of News of the World magazine since he was 28 years old. Then, he moved to the Daily Mirror office from 1996 to 2004.
Not only in the world of journalism, but Morgan also served as a judge in Britain's Got Talent and America's Got Talent competitions. He also conducted interviews with various public figures through Life Stories.
As if that wasn't enough, Morgan started joining Good Morning Britain and this is his sixth year as a member of the show.
With ease, Morgan became a hot topic in British society. A number of comments that he issued became a fuss and even controversy. Through Good Morning Britain, Morgan met Sussana Reid and Charlotte Hawkins. The three of them complement each other.
Meghan Markle
Recently, Piers Morgan chose to withdraw from the show Good Morning Britain. His comments on Meghan Markle were considered exaggerated by whatever he had said before.
Morgan's relationship with Markle has always been the consumption of his readers. When it was first reported that Markle was in a relationship with Prince Harry, Morgan often wrote that Meghan was someone extraordinary.
Initially, Morgan was a fan of a series that Markle played in, Suits. They had been sending messages and met in England. They met for a while and Morgan said, "When we were drinking at my pub, I thought she (Meghan) was a smart, focused, kind, and confident woman".
Even as rumors swirled that Markle was going to marry Harry, Morgan wrote an article about the reasons why Meghan was a perfect match for Harry. He is also confidently looking forward to the wedding invitation from her.

But when Morgan was not invited to the wedding, he was unhappy. In 2018, Morgan invited Markle's father and friends to tell him about Markle's abusive behavior. Until 2020, Markle and Harry left the palace, Morgan often attacked Markle.
After Oprah's interview aired last week, Morgan said, “I have never seen an interview that was more disgusting and dishonest. Nor is he a very hypocritical or contradictory person". Morgan also called Markle a liar or Princess Pinocchio.
He also uttered these words during the Good Morning Britain program which he hosted. A few moments later, Morgan chose to quit the program after many complaints and protests over Morgan's comments against Markle. This complaint was also sent directly by Prince Harry's wife to the ITV television station.
“On Monday, I said I didn't believe Meghan Markle in the Oprah interview. I've taken the time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don't (believe it)”, the 55-year-old said via Twitter.
Defended
Among the numerous complaints against Piers Morgan's attitude, there are still many who stand up for him. One of them, Sharon Osbourne, sent support to Morgan via Twitter.
"I am with you. I support you. People forget that you are paid for your opinion and you are just talking about reality”, Sharon wrote.
The host, Tucker Carlson said that Morgan is an inspirational figure for everyone.
"Piers Morgan reminded the world that if there are many things that are more important than having a job such as dignity and self-respect, history will treat it well", he said.
On Thursday, March 11, the petition requesting Morgan to return to Good Morning Britain was signed by more than 190 thousand people. But Morgan said he would not return to the event.
