58 Singapore Airlines Turbulence Passengers Still Being Treated At Bangkok Hospital, 27 Allowed To Go Home
JAKARTA - A total of 74 Singapore Airlines passengers underwent treatment at a number of hospitals (RS) in Bangkok, Thailand, after being affected by severe turbulence.
Singapore Airlines (SIA) in a statement posted on the airline's official Facebook, quoted by Straits Times, reported that in addition to 74 passengers, there were six crew members still in Bangkok.
SIA added that those in Bangkok were passengers receiving medical treatment, as well as family members and relatives were declared healthy after experiencing severe turbulence at an altitude of 6,000 feet.
However, on May 22 at 13.00 local time, Bangkok's Samitivej Hospital reported 27 passengers had been allowed to go home and 58 others were still being treated at several medical facilities in Bangkok.
Passengers receiving medical treatment include two Singaporeans being treated at the ICU at Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, while the other was in the ICU at Samitivej Hospital in Sukhumvit.
The Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER experienced severe turbulence on May 21 at Irrawaddy Basin, Myanmar about 10 hours after leaving London.
The London-Singapore route carried 221 passengers and 18 crew members took off from London after 10 p.m. on Monday, May 20, local time.
When experiencing severe turbulence, the plane with flight SQ321 was diverted and landed at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Bangkok.
