Strong Heat Reaches 46 Degrees In Mexico, 138 Dead Monkeys Fall From Trees
JAKARTA - A total of 138 Howler monkeys in Mexico died suddenly due to strong heat reaching 46 degrees Celsius that hit the region in North America.
Citing The Sun, hundreds of monkeys died within six days. Not a few of the monkeys died like a fruit fell from a tree while locals struggled to save the animal.
The deaths of hundreds of monkeys have occurred in Tabasco state, Gulf Coast, since May 16.
According to the Biodiversity Conservation Group The Usumacinta, five of the hundreds of dead monkeys were rushed to a local veterinarian for help.
The monkeys arrived at the treatment site in critical condition, dehydrated and fever.
"They are weak like a cloth. It was a heat attack," Dr. Sergio Valenzuela.
Veterinarians and animal volunteers say the hot heat in Mexico has killed dozens, perhaps even hundreds of primates.
Yesterday, Tuesday, May 21, about a third of Mexico's territory experienced its highest heat temperature reaching 45 degrees Celsius.
