Israeli Ambassador Withdrawn Home After Palestine Recognized As State

JAKARTA - Israel's Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, said it had ordered the immediate withdrawal of its ambassadors from Ireland and Norway regarding the decision of the two countries to recognize Palestine as a country.

Earlier on the same day, the Norwegian government announced the official recognition of the Palestinian state.

The Irish Independent daily newspaper also reports that Ireland is expected to officially recognize the Palestinian state, Wednesday, May 22.

"I have instructed the immediate withdrawal of Israeli ambassadors in Ireland and Norway to consult in connection with the country's decision to recognize the Palestinian state," he said.

Foreign Minister Katz also sent a clear and firm message to Ireland and Norway that Israel would not remain silent in dealing with parties who undermine sovereignty and threaten their security, Katz wrote on social media X.
