Weda Bay Project Scholarship For Halteng And Haltim Students
JAKARTA - PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) and PT Weda Bay Nickel (WBN) announced the 2024 Weda Bay Scholarship program for students / students from industrial and mining ring villages. This scholarship is a commitment of Weda Bay Project (PT IWIP - PT WBN) to optimally contribute to the development progress and development of human resources in Halmahera in particular and North Maluku (Malut) and Indonesia in general.
The External Relations Manager of Weda Bay Project, Katamsi Ginano, said that Weda Bay Scholarships are currently aimed at students/mahasisswi Diploma 3 (D3), Diploma 4 (D4), Strata 1 (S1), and Strata 2 (S2) from 35 villages around PT IWIP industrial area and PT WBN mining concessions in Central Halmahera (Halteng) and East Halmahera (Haltim).
"These scholarships are intended for students / students from 35 villages around the PT IWIP industrial area and the PT WBN mining concession which has been recorded in the main documents of Weda Bay Project," he said, in a written statement, Wednesday, May 22.
One of the main requirements for this scholarship recipient has at least been domiciled in his home village for 5 years.
The villages referred to in Halteng include: Lelilef Sawai, Lelilef Waibulan, Lukulamo, and Gemaf which are in the ring 1 category; ring 2 consists of Kobe, Sawai Itepo, Woejerana, Kulo Jaya, and Woekob villages; and ring 3 are Sagea, Kiya, Fritu, Session, Fidijaya, Were, Nurweda, Goeng, Wedana, Loiteglas, and Akeici villages. For Haltim consists of all villages that fall into ring 3 categories, including: Nusa Jaya, Saolat, Waijoi, Minamin, Loloba, Ino Jaya, Ake Jawi, Tailino, Jikomoi. Tanure, Yawal Soa Sangaji, Maba Sangaji, and Soagimalaha.
Katamsi said Weda Bay Scholarships were given to 60 recipients, consisting of 40 people for D3, D4, and S1 as well as 20 people for S2. The study that is the priority of this program is Engineering, Health, and Mathematics and Natural Sciences. However, this program does not close opportunities for students who take or are undergoing studies outside which are the priority of the Weda Bay Scholarship.

"Recipients of the Weda Bay Scholarships for the D3, D4, and S1 categories will receive a maximum Education Development Donation (SPP) of IDR 8,000,000 per semester, while undergraduate students will receive a maximum tuition fee of IDR 12,000,000 per semester. In addition, scholarship recipients also receive a living fee of IDR 9,000,000 per semester. In addition, Weda Bay Scholarship recipients will also be facilitated to get opportunities to increase and develop professional capacity," he added.
Katamsi said the Scholarship program is expected to have a long-term positive impact on improving the quality of human resources in North Maluku.
